If you have ever downloaded an album of music as FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) or APE (Monkey's Audio), you may have encountered this scenario. The entire album has been ripped and converted to a single file, usually with the .FLAC or .APE extension. If you're like me, you prefer your music as individual songs. Luckily, there's an extremely simple way to convert these FLAC or APE albums to separate songs while retaining perfect filenames and tags.
For this tutorial, you will need 2 things. First, an extraction program for unzipping zip files and second, CueTools. I recommend using 7-zip because it's free and open source. CueTools is what you will use to convert the FLAC or APE album to individual songs.
Simply extract CueTools using 7-zip and then run "CueTools.exe".
Follow the instructions in this picture:

When you're finished, you should have a folder of songs with proper names and tags (assuming the original FLAC or APE album was properly tagged). You can delete the original files when you're finished.
Good luck!
