Logichaos is a blog site created by Neil Moore with the help of John Wolgamot. Here you will find guides for Windows and Windows based programs. Logichaos started out as a hobby many years ago and over time it has become my personal website where I submit and edit guides and video tutorials. I maintain a list of free programs for Windows called The Ultimate List of Free Programs for Windows.

A graphical user interface for encoding your videos into the increasingly popular format H.264.

MeGUI is a graphical user interface for encoding your videos into the increasingly popular format H.264. MeGUI is a straightforward and easy to use program that makes encoding your videos to H.264 easy. It tells youa when updates are available and will download and install all of the required components automatically. Watch in HD in fullscreen for the best experience!

Hello,
cool tutorial. But i've got a problem. The result is awesome but it taking ages to complete. For exmpl: a 1.37 gb movie took 8 hours to be completed. :(

Is there anyway to reduce the processing time? I would help me a lot. Plz help.

Many thanks for all you MeGUI tutorials, you explain all the features so well and therefore we are able to decide which settings to use ourself. I hardly ever see this in any other tutorials, people just go ahead and say you MUST do something. I am sad that you no longer like the program but I do understand why. I will be checking back to your channel and here to find out if the replacement you are looking to use is suitable or not. Many thanks.

Glad I could help. I have been looking into Xmedia Recode as an alternative to MeGUI. As far as I can tell, it is mainly a video reconverter, meaning it's good for taking an existing video and converting it to a format to be used on a playback device such as a PS3/Xbox 360, or handheld devices. It's super fast and really easy to use.

I have a written tutorial for it which pertains to the PS3, but I am going to write a tutorial that shows you how to convert the video to a variety of formats, not simply the PS3.

You can check it out here: www.logichaos.com/.../104-how-to-convert-mkv-to-mp4-with-ac3-51-surround-for-the-ps3.html

Hi!
Thanks a lot fot this tutorial!
I've a problem >.<
Here I only have 3 pre-sets... and I can't figure out how to get as many as you have!
Thanks

Hi, it sounds to me like you did not download the x264 presets for MeGUI. Open MeGUI, go to your Options menu and click Update.

On the left, go down to profile collections. Right click "Tx264" and choose Force Reinstall.

Apply your updates. During the update, make sure you get all of the presets for x264. Also, if you're missing audio presets, you can force reinstall "STAudio" as well.

Hope that helps.

Hi. Try editing the .AVS file with notepad and change "AviSource" to "-)irectShowSource". See if that helps.

If that doesn't work, try opening the .AVI file with Virtualdub and resaving it as an AVI file. Make sure you choose "-)irect Stream Copy" from the video menu or it will recompress the video and that will take a while & eat lots of harddrive space. If that fails, try "full processing mode" from the video menu and then save. After you've done that, open the new AVI with MeGUI.

Let me know if that solves your problem.

Can you be a little more specific? What do you mean by "the same"? Same quality? Same physical size?
